Here's more comments from the meeting:

======================
Q:Intel?
Question answered by Greg - He did not see them being a factor for at
least 1 year or more. Not worried after that much either - but nothing for a year.

Q:Consolidation?
Greg - Thinks nVidia will probably be bought. Doesn't think they will get to IPO. Maybe S3 or ATI might go for them, not 3Dfx. He reminded
me that there were more than a dozen players fighting for scraps a few short years ago. Now he believes it is down to nVidia and 3Dfx. Dave said that nVidia's culture and 3Dfx's are too different for it to make sense.

Q:R&D Budget?
R&D is based on a road map which is not subject to fluctuations in finished goods demand. That is not to say that demand doesn't factor into manufacturing and related time tables......

Q:Banshee 2?
We will see a .25 micron 2XAGP Banshee sample in Q1 and volume ship in Q299. It will have some new goodies too? Greg expects this part to be out before nVidia's. He also said that in the second half of 99 they would distance themselves in a big way from everybody. He repeated the now famous " 1999 will be the year of 3Dfx", without hesitation.

Q:Rampage?
The product for which you and others refer to as Rampage is what Dave called a little something for our serious customers. It will not be cheap, and we won't mind. Expect to hear about it soon. It is a leap in performance - not a volume product like Banshee.

They will establish high volume sales and predictability with the Banshee type product, and feed the margins will a retail product like Voodoo2.
==============================

Most of this sounded good to me. I would like to know more about Intel's plans and 3Dfx's counter-strategy though. Anyone hear anything about their post-i740 strategy?
