I haven't seen the full context of his comments, but none of the reports I've read mentioned any strategies described by Ellison to achieve his prediction. Ellison made some predictions a few years ago about the network computer that haven't come close to being true. If we use that evidence of his predictive credibility, we would ignore his comments about comparing Oracle to SAP in five years. --Mike Buckley

SAP-Chef Henning Kagermann sagte dem Nachrichtemmagazin "Der Spiegel", nach heutigem Stand gebe es keinen Grund, von der Vorhersage abzurcken. "Und die sah beim Umsatz ein Wachstum von 40 Prozent und beim Gewinn einen Zuwachs von 30 bis 35 Prozent vor." Auf die Frage, ob der Kursverfall der Aktie auf eine Krise bei SAP hindeutet, sagte Kagermann, davon k”nne keine Rede sein. "Aus unserer Sicht gibt es keinerlei Grnde fr das berraschende Absacken des Kurses." Das einzige was sich ge„ndert habe, sei das Umfeld am gesamten Finanzmarkt. SAP-Stammaktien hatten am Freitag in Frankfurt an der insgesamt schw„cheren Pr„sensb”rse mit 726 DM um 58 DM und die Vorzge mit 800 DM um 55 DM tiefer geschlossen. Die Vorzugsaktie steht damit aber immer noch deutlich ber dem 1997er Schluákurs von 572 DM. Ein historisches Hoch hatte SAP-Titel am 31. Juli mit 1331,75 DM im Xetra-Handel erreicht.
