thank you. hope, your heel pain is better and the wrong side of the bed has been moved! In any case, I spent some time thinking about you and Clark's answers; but for a layman; its like a crash course in say nuclear war--you remember--15 minutes to disarm the bomb--oops, that smifing dog ate the instructions!!! cut the red wire!!!!(*or was that Blue, oh you're color blind!?) so I looked up the comparison charts (back vs front enders) during the downturn for some of the semis and could not conclude , that I could use this as a bottom or top indicator; I had to look up the meaning of rfq and sort of figured out that you meant quotes for semi equipment or did you mean chips ( damm, where are those 10 easy steps to brain surgery when you need them!) , so I concluded that since Im not in the industry(boy that is an oxymorom), Im not privy to rfqs--then, I read your reference by Carl Johnson--his evidence is only for a seasonal blip( damm, maybe he has those instructions) what evidence is he referring to, beside increase in device demand?? what makes him think this is seasonal and not an uptrend-- I couldnt find a place to track cellular phone chip inventories either.=========================================So I can wait for the prices to double-- certainly a lagging indicator or bottom fish--(gosh even though, I am color blind-- you sure have alot of green goo all over your hands and all those cuts; you have got to stop petting your Piranhas!!!) I guess I always thought that mr Market was not so smart, but in this case he figured out, using some info, where the top was---I just dont get it that we cant do that too! ooops , 15 min is up!!! the bomb is about to exp--------------

Ian, I have followed Mike Burke's notes for years and his calls are not based upon luck but knowledge. Atml is just one of many good calls. Mike

Ian, Thanks for mentioning my name. BTW, Since I've only been on SI for two years, it could not possibly have taken me two years to be right on Atmel. Atmel has been in the toilet for more than a year and I started telling the story when it first hit the 40s. True, the stock fell to the low 20s and ran back up stongly several times because the bulls were bull-headed. But I make a fortune with my long puts on those types of yo-yo bounces. Also, just because investors are buying while wearing blindfolds does not mean that the fundamentals weren't working perfectly my way right from the start. They were. Some analysts and most investors just don't read the news or check out the competition.

BTW, if anyone can get a copy, the July 15, 1996 edition of The Business Journal of San Jose and Silicon Valley contains a standoff between me and Mark Edelstone of Morgan Stuckup-Dean Witless, though he was then with Prudential. Anyone who ever considers following Edelwrong's advice ought to read his comments about how underpriced Atmel was 20 points ago. Of course, he doesn't like it under $10. <G>
