Thanks, Jim. I feel more relieved about this now. While I take much of what I read on message boards with a grain of salt, it still makes sense to check certain things out when they sound somewhat plausable. I did ask the poster on the Qualcomm thread what he meant by "negotiations" but he hasn't answered me. BTW, Clark also answered me in much the same way as you and I trust both of your opinions emphatically.

I'm curious about this part of your post...

<VLSI just replaced Qualcomm with it's new CDMA+ P100 baseband processor in several new phones coming out.>

Can you say who the phone manufacturer is?

Qualcomm and Sony seem to be doing well with Sprint and Primeco phones. What kind of odds does VLSI have in taking some of that business away from Qualcomm? Again, this question might make me look naive because I don't have a good understanding for what parts of a cellular phone Qualcomm and VLSI supply.

Thanks,

Dan

Jim - **OT** Qualcomm over CDMA IP which Qualcomm is claiming it has rights to, and has been holding back in a vain attempt to forestall W-CDMA becoming the future world cellular standard without any backward compatibility with cdmaOne.

Always interested in opposing views. Why do you say 'claiming the rights to' and 'vain attempt' given that every other major telecom company in the world is paying Qualcomm royalties for CDMAOne, and ETSI (the official mother of WCDMA) has admitted that Qualcomm IPR is required for WCDMA?
