A small question to the tech people.

In WSJ there was a small article about the digital monitors which are supposed to be in the works. Intel was mentioned, and also they mentioned the existing flat display to be analog and not digital.

Can anyone elaborate about the digital display in regards to what's in TFS's lab.

N.S.

Floyd---thanks for the report. This is good news indeed.
Did anyone interpret the use of the term "cellular phone GRAPHIC
displays" to possibly indicate they were the NEW LCaD type ?

In Best Buys latest Ad they show a Motorola Star-Tac type phone
with a "ten color digital display". Could ten color indicate
LCiD ??

Am I just wishing on a star again ??

Hi D. Floyd...

You quoted the TFS press release:

"The company is planning to move to a newly-built, permanent facility in 1999."

______________________________________________________________

I think this is an interesting statement, and note that it was buried near the bottom of the release.

It seems to me that the China expansion was originally scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 1998, and I have reviewed my notes from the recent conference call where it was indicated management was more or less on time with the construction.

Although there are occasions when "slippage" may result in a couple of months of delay, it is clear that the company didn't want to provide very much information on the facility's probable completion date. After all, they could have said they expected the plant to be operational in the fourth quarter (which would have been on schedule), or even the first quarter, allowing for some "normal" construction delays.

I think it is important that the company has said the facility will be completed some time in 1999. That could very well mean that the completion is dependent on other factors, and that management isn't committed to having it done and operational on the same time frame as prior.

In short...given their history...I would guess that the plant construction is on a "slowdown" at the moment. I can not know for certain if I am right, of course, and I defer to the knowledge of Phoenix area locals, most of whom have better insight into TFS operations because of their proximity to relevant and knowledgeable parties.

I would appreciate seeing knowledgeable speculation about the timetable for the plant's completion. (Maybe the company hasn't been able to repurchase shares prior to informing the public of the status of the expansion. Unfortunately, it is equally necessary to parse the company's public statements as Clinton's insistence of his innocence and behavior. )

Have a good day.
