TigerPaw, that is pretty much what I thought when I posted the identical idea some months ago. I think its pretty naive to breezily assert that anybody can copy the model. That's why I challenged Gary to come up with a chronology for converting rather than buying.

On another topic, I heard that AMD has announced a new chip for notebooks that will put a great deal of pressure on Intel because of the price differential -- something like $400 less than Intel's Pentium II chip. They also announced that Compaq will be buying the chip. I suspect that this may well put some pressure on Dell as well, because Dell only uses Intel CPUs.
