(OT) Thanks Dan, You are 100% correct on that issue. We would not replace our system with the current US health care system under any circumstance! In fact, we like our system so much that there was a push a few years ago to entrench our healthcare concept into our constitution. Equal health care access for every Canadian Citizen - regardless of the level of wealth he/she may have. Most Americans wont understand it since most of you follow the "Every Man For Himself" form of healthcare. But then again, that is the main American principal of becoming a US citizen. PMS Witch, your argument of the US vs Canada "person type" is clear proof of your ignorance on the subject and of the type of society we Canadians want to avoid. Unlike the US, we Canadians activily care about helping our fellow citizen (and its backed up with goernment policies). Yes, it cost the richer of our society more in taxes (and we grumble about that many times - but no more than you Americans grumble) to maintain this, but, it makes for an overall better country to live in. That is why the UN continually rates Canada as the best country to live in. So, its easy for you to knock any world-wide evaluation like the UN report, but, until you actually realize that there is life outside the US borders, your opinions are completely invalid and not respected. How many times have you been in Canada and for how long? As an office neighbour of mine said to me (and he is an ex-American from Chicago who moved up here several years ago): "If the only thing that is important to you is MONEY then the place to be is the US, but if high quality of life and high standard of living in what you want - then living in the US is the wrong place to be". One last example, I live in the 6th largest city in Canada and we unfortunately have the highest murder rate in the country. That is about 2.7 per 100,000. Remember this is the worst murder rate in Canada. Compare that statistic to your major US cities. Unlike most of your local news broadcasts (and we see your local newscasts - so we know), a murder in our city makes BIG news on our news broadcasts. So, Thanks Dan for bringing your point up, but PMS Witch is not a worthy person to discuss this issue with. Toy
