This alert was sent out by telusplanet in the province of Alberta, Canada & should be heeded to by users in Alberta or users of telusplanet, as I understand it.

Subject:

______________________________________________________________________________

Some TELUS PLAnet customers have received E-mail containing
a program
which compromises the security on their computers. This
program puts
your computer and passwords at risk.

The E-mail claims to have been sent from
help@telusplanet.net, and may
have the subject "speed fix." It describes how users can
speed up their
modem by clicking on the attached file.

THE "speed fix" E-MAIL IS A HOAX AND CONTAINS A DANGEROUS
VIRUS. DO NOT
CLICK ON THE ATTACHMENT OR OPEN THE ATTACHED FILE.

If you receive the "speed fix" E-mail, you should:

1. Press "Reply" in your E-mail program. Your E-mail
program should fill
in help@telusplanet.net as the recipient of the new
message.
2. Send the message. This will help us identify the sender
of the file
and take further action.
3. Delete the E-mail.

TELUS PLAnet strongly recommends that you never open
attachments from
people you do not know. This is one of the most common ways
that viruses
are transmitted.

Please note that TELUS PLAnet will never send you a file as
an
attachment to E-mail. If we want to recommend a program or
file we will
post it on the telusplanet.net or planet.eon.net web sites.

IF YOU RECEIVED THE "SPEED FIX" OR SIMILAR MESSAGES AND
CLICKED ON THE
FILE, YOU MAY HAVE ACTIVATED THE BACK ORIFICE PROGRAM,
which compromises
the security on your computer. Please view the page at
<http://www.telusplanet.net/help/bosecurity.html> in your
Web browser for
instructions on how to identify and neutralize this
program.
