I2, Your Pain is Shared

As of August 31, looking at 1 year performance, only 23.7% of 7,081 stocks beat the Index of 8.1%, 7.1% were between zero and the Index, and a big 69.2% provided investors with a negative return. Looking at 3 year performance, 22.3% of 5,811 stocks beat the Index of 21.75%, 31.8% were between zero and the Index, and 45.9% provided negative 3 year performance. Looking at 5 year returns, 23.6% of 4,355 stocks beat the Index of 18.24%, 38.3% were between zero and the Index, and 38.1% provided investors with a negative return for 5 years (ouch).

To me, 69% with a negative 1 year performance does not constitute a bullish trend!
