I just checked on ASND at the Morgan Stanley research site, and was surprised to find the following note, dated August 3, 1998:

We are not currently able to comment on this security because our policy and/or applicable regulation precludes Morgan Stanley Dean Witter from issuing such information with respect to this company at this time. All of our prior ratings, estimates and opinions are deemed no longer in effect. Absence of our comment under these circumstances should not be interpreted as positive or negative towards the company.

It's hard to know how to interpret this, as MS previously provided regular research on the stock, having originally (I think) taken the company public. MS still covers LU, and published a favorable report on September 18 with a price target of $120. Any thoughts?

MM, you are slightly off base on the COMS/USRX revenue analysis. Revs were off 12% from the combined revs of the separate companies. Not all that unexpected given the intense pricing pressure in both NICs and modems.

Positive comments about RAC equipment from COMS conf. call. The pricing stabilized. 2 Billion orders in pipeline for various vendors.
Here it is from DOw Jones.

"The price erosion that forced remote-access
concentrator prices down about 50% in recent
quarters also slowed during the first quarter, a
favorable prospect for 3Com's Total Control product
family. Industry sources say network operators are
presently evaluating remote-access gear - from
product vendors including 3Com - for several
contracts valued at a total of about $2 billion. "

This is very positive, ASND should be hitting in all cylinders.

Good luck all.
