You (and he) are correct about the sheer folly of releasing estimated 4Q numbers only to have them followed by audited numbers.

I stand corrected. But I do still believe a certain risk exists in releasing #'s early. Not withstanding the next quarter, if the company becomes fully reporting they have a certain amount of time to file quarterly and annual statements. This is either 30 and 45 days or 45 and 90 days, I cannot recall. But even if unaudited, if they release numbers to the public in 5 to 10 days, and the subsequent filing to the SEC is different 20 days later, they have created a problem.

Have you ever seen a fully reporting company release their financials before submitting them to the SEC?
