Ramsey,

Read his statement and his answers to questions, he was very clear. The only people who were disappointed were politicians trying to back him into endorsing their partisan political positions, from both sides of the aisle. And he has been doing exactly what he should do up until now.

FWIW I think the Greenspan and Rubin have been advocating the correct policy prescriptions. It is not their fault that the IMF, the Japanese and the various emerging market disaster zones won't co-operate. If the Fed responded in a panic mode and lowered rates without other actions being taken they would exacerbate problems. The only real criticism I have of either of them is that they have not been tougher on the IMF.
