Virgin Express Announces New Irish Operation and Daily Services From Shannon To London; New Management Positions Added

BRUSSELS, Belgium, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Virgin Express Holdings, plc (Nasdaq: VIRGY; Brussels: VIR) announced today that it has formed a new Irish subsidiary, Virgin Express (Ireland), Ltd to be based in Shannon. The airline's arrival in Ireland will create new jobs in several key areas such as pilot and cabin crew staff training, technical support administration and expansion of the company's award-winning reservation centre. By establishing an operation in the Irish Republic, Virgin Express is positioning itself for the future growth of its pan-European low fare airline business.

New Service for Shannon

Virgin Express (Ireland) announced that it will commence twice daily service from Shannon to London-Stansted beginning in mid-December. The flights will provide convenient early morning and late afternoon departures to and from London and Shannon. Charter service from Shannon to continental European leisure destinations is also planned. ''We are very excited about serving the greater Shannon area with high quality, low-fare service. Western Ireland is one of the most dynamic growth areas in all of Europe'', said Jim Swigart, Virgin Express Chief Executive.

Details regarding schedules and fares will be released during the week of 5 October 1998.

New Management Positions

Virgin Express Holdings also announced today that it is reorganising its senior management to implement its new growth plan. Additions to the senior management team include:

Bob Brayton, Vice President Flight Operations
Bob was formerly the Vice-President of Flight Operations at Continental Express and Atlantic Southeast Airline and has 12 years of flight operations experience.

Martin Hamrogue, Director Flight Operations, Virgin Express (Ireland)
Martin has more than 30 years experience in the airline industry and held numerous senior positions in ground and flight operations at TWA.

Tom Bradley, Director-Inflight
Tom was with Virgin Atlantic for 11 years and held various positions in the inflight services department.

Marcel Ceulemans, Director - Human Resources
Marcel was formerly head of Human Resources for Nike (Benelux) and has over 15 years experience in Europe and the United States

Gus Carbonell, Director - Planning and Marketing
Gus will assume overall responsibility for planning, pricing, advertising, promotions and customer services. He previously held senior marketing and planning positions at Southwest Airlines, Mesa and Airtran.

''This new team has the depth and skill to succeed in meeting the challenges of our expansion program throughout Europe,'' said Don Monteath, Chief Operating Officer.

From its Brussels hub Virgin Express operates scheduled services to London (Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted), Copenhagen, Milan, Rome, Nice, Barcelona and Madrid, and also operates flights from Rome to Barcelona and Madrid. Services from Shannon to Stansted begin mid-December. Charter services are offered to over 150 different destinations in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
