Shares of Richard Branson's Virgin Express (the future Southwest Airlines of Europe) are now available in the U.S.!! When Richard announced plans for this low fare, no frills European airline to compete with the expensive, poor service, nationally owned airlines, I remember thinking, wow, I wish I could buy that stock. Now I can but I am having a difficult time finding good financial information and other material to research the stock.
The company has a web site at virgin-exp.com but investor information is limited. I have included the company profile below which is taken directly from the home page. Merrill Lynch just initiated a near term accumulate and long term buy rating on the stock. Unfortunately, they were the underwriters of the stock so their independence must be questioned.
I am starting this thread with the hopes of providing valuable information to all who are interested in learning about the company. In other words, do your homework, ask good questions and don't post daily price movements on the stock.
Company Profile: Utilizing the youngest fleet in Europe, Virgin Express is providing low fare, high quality service to an ever growing number of European cities!. All our flights are non-smoking, single class with beverage service. And you will fly on clean, modern aircraft.
Our fleet is backed by a group of energetic, enthusiastic and multitalented people assisted by the latest in high-technology systems and equipment.
Behind our success is the entrepreneurial spirit of Richard Branson and his Virgin Group - a worldwide empire of more than 100 diverse businesses. He now brings Virgin's winning formula to the European aviation arena. Richard together with Jonathan Ornstein, Virgin Express' president and CEO, are building the number one, low fare, scheduled airline in Europe.
