Mere survival by borrowing oodles is not indicative of anything.
300 MHz K6 DOESN'T outperform 400 MHz PII - Check the benchmarks!
Simply being in a market doesn't guarantee profits.
NV RAM has not been a moneymaker for AMD lately
Neither has microprocessors.

I think what is being made, although it is not realized by the author, is a strong case for a takeover of AMD by business folks with a stronger eye on profitability, much deep pockets and a stronger view of where the business is going.
