I am not saying that there will be NO problems.
I am saying that I do not think there will be a recession. I am saying that I think that those problems will be rapidly resolved by people who will be standing by to make things work.

Yes, maybe there will be some nuke plant gone runaway on that day. But I rather think that just about every business will be in a state of alertness. So I would put that probability at no higher than usual.

Yes - I have said before that in places like Russia there will be more serious failures. But Russia is flat on the mat already. I can tell you that from first hand experience - I recently returned from there. (And I was not just in Moscow - I was traveling alone or with ordinary Russians as few Americans do.)

Russia and the world, for example, has a lot more to fear from the KGB having a large number of renegade officers gone criminal than from Y2K. Look into the Konanykhine case as an example. This case indicates where billions have been going from Russia.

Having participated in authoring a document or two that became official government stuff, I also have less inherent faith in such sources than some. I also did research years ago on the effects of nuclear war. Among other things, I determined that most of the information from official sources was flat wrong. My faith is not so high.

So - I stand by my estimation of Y2K. Don't bet too hard on fundamentals there. And bet on long term prospect companies.
