Mark,

<<unless the hedge funds really start to unravel, I think AG will likely not lower rates in the short term >>

Thestreet.com had a comment today that the triggering event would be a rising unemployment figure. So my question is , if so, why? Lower interest rates would not necessarily spur renewed employment if there is little market for goods and services...right? So back to Asia and the rest of the world or am I missing something(a highly likely condition, I assure you.<g>
best,
Stitch

Mark,

One question I have is why the FED still hasn't done anything to tighten margin requirements. I remember when AG gave his "irrational exuberance" speech that sent the market into a tailspin for fear of a rate hike, the issue of tighter margin requirements was brought up the. It seems that if AG had done this perhaps we might not be seeing the LTCM problem today. Or maybe that's the point, AG has deliberately held of tightening the margin requirement in order to give the financial "cowboys" a chance to get their act together, apparently they didn't get the message?
