jlallen, I have to repeat my favorite quote on the matter. As Ronald Reagan said, "Facts are stupid things". Along with my own paraphrase of an old saw on computer standards, the nice thing about facts is that there are so many to pick from.

So, you got your well-chosen facts. Personally, I prefer to add a few more, about the context of all this lying, and how Ken Starr got involved in, or perhaps even instigated, the whole Paula Jones thing to begin with, some time before he was named Special Prosecutor. Not to mention certain facts about how he was named Special Prosecutor. If you're going to make lying an impeachable offense, you're going to have to conduct Diogenes' search for the next president. Let us know who you come up with.

Cheers, Dan.

It is ludicrous to assert, as you and Starr do, that testing the scope of privileges in court and then following the court's decision is an abuse of power. Similarly, claiming that saying the same thing to his cabinet that he said publicly to the press (that he did not have sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky) constitutes obstruction of justice or an abuse of power is absurd overreaching. Odious right wing extremism. Transparent extreme partisanship.

Push back the religious right!! Keep them from dictating to America.

The upwelling public disgust with the sanctimonious Republicans could just lead to a large backlash, even as soon as November, if the electorate is properly scarred by some effective campaign messages.
