Michelle, I hope you're right about the backlash, but it's far from a sure thing. As the poll/analysis article from the NYT stated (http://www.nytimes.com/library/politics/092598clinton-poll.html) , the Republicans are in a pretty strong position, and playing up the general disgust with politics plays into their hand. It's an interesting chess game going on. As I said, I expect the general Republican line to be to downplay / sidestep the issue as much as possible, till after the election. Then the righteous moral crusade will resume, and our little morality play will begin in earnest.

Michelle, I couldn't agree more with the first to paragraphs.

As for your predictions in the third, I'm coming around increasingly to your way of thinking.

I don't think the backlash will translate automatically into heaps of votes, but I think it's there to be skillfully used by Democrats.
