I think a backlash really is developing. I don't think that will automatically be translated into votes in November.

I think it COULD be directed that way by some skillful political and campaign work by the Democrats.

I keep thinking of the excellent Frank Rich Op Ed NYT piece on Tuesday, I think, which I heavily excerpted on this forum. His argument essentially was that Clinton's job approval numbers are high not because the public only cares about the economy, but because they would rather have Clinton's piggish personal behavior than endorse and hand a victory to the Pat Robertson, Ken Starr priggish forces. Which would seek to roll back liberties and gains in many areas. Its a culture war.

I think that fear and distaste could be very well exploited by some national DNC level adds this election season. It's a delicate issue, but skillfully done, it could be dynamite.
