A co-worker of mine swears that this was his wife's friend's husband... This guy worked as a contractor for the city parks department, he drove his own truck with different gardening tools. One day, driving through a residential neighborhood (a little too fast) he just caught a glimpse of a cat dart out in front of his truck, as he turned a corner. He felt a bump, and knew he ran over the cat. He pulled over to the side of the road to look for the cat (to see if it needed to be put out of its misery. He hopped out of the truck, grabbed a shovel from the back (to either scoop it off the road, or as humanely as possible, kill it) Well, he looked everywhere around the truck and could not find the cat on the road. Finally he saw the cat lying on its side on the sidewalk next to the road. It was in a semi twisted shape and barely taking a breath. He walked over to it, doing the humane thing, and whacked it on the head with his shovel. He did this once and again. Finally it was dead. As he finished whacking it a second time, he says a woman came out of a nearby house yelling at him "what are you doing?!!!! what are you doing?!" He said "look lady i just ran over this cat and it was hurt and suffering so i put it out of its misery" The woman continued screaming at him, as he scooped the dead cat up and put it in a garbage bag. He told the lady, if she knew who, to let the owner know what happened. He got in his truck and drove off. About 2 days later, as he was sitting down for dinner with his family, there was a knock at the door. He opened it up to see 2 policemen. The police said they had a complaint about abuse of animals. They had tracked him down via his licence plate # the lady had given them. He explained to the police what really happened. That he had run over a cat and put it out of its misery. The police agreed it was a misunderstanding. So he thought nothing more about it until about 2 weeks later... He brought his truck to a dealership for a service. When it was done, the guy came to bring the truck around and give him his keys. As the guy handed him his keys he said "hey man did you know there was a dead cat wedged up in your front wheel well?" So that day, he really killed 2 cats, one by accident. The other, just a happy cat lazily sunning himself, until some guy comes up and whacks him on the head with a shovel Urban myth? Jay
