<<Hjallsted confirmed Dell's interest in the PCI-X proposal, which is expected to be announced by the PCI Special Interest Group (SIG) within the next two months. He also confirmed that Dell "definitely was not consulted on this project," but said "obviously, if we feel it has benefit for our customers we will consider using it in our products.">>

there is no revenue downside to Dell regarding this proposal. Dell will have access to this technology along with all others. cost considerations of PCI-x over Intel's may even be lower. it's just tit for tat, but says nothing about Dell's ability to generate revenues while using either Intel's pCi or this PCI-x. by wording this article in this manner the author is implying that Dell won't have access to the technology. Dell already gives cash under the table to Intel for their pCi bus inclusion. paying the three pigs for their PCI-x inclusion won't make a significant difference.

Intel has yet to announce their own next generation bus. i know they're not sitting on their thumbs on this. it's a big hush.
