I've looked at the earnings estimates for 1999 for those companies in the past several weeks. The growth is definitely slowing. They had two housing sales reports, one for new homes and one for resales, both of which showed declines. I've also looked at the furniture stocks and they are also showing big declines in stock prices and earnings. I don't know if the Clinton impeachment stuff has impacted consumer confidence but the big-ticket purchases are off. So, yes. The stock prices are reflecting slowing of growth in these sectors.
