<<Another excellent possibility, and the more likely one if Apple Recon's past record is any indication. Will window dressing continue until next Wednesday, the true end of the quarter, or did it end today, the end of the last full week of business for Q3? I'm curious about this for Apple as well, as I remember Eric Yang mentioning this, but I can't remember the the exact day Apple ends its quarter this month.>> Indeed. Money managers are busy decorating their windows. Apple is one of the winners this quarter in its stock price, improving revenues/net, as well as future prospective in '99. We've got five straight days uptrend. I think AAPL will continue its trend with the following rationale: (1) From AAPL's past three months trend, it has two big rally, one lasted 13 days (from June 29th - July 16th), another one lasts 12 days (from August 4th - August 14th). It's likely AAPL will have at least another week's rally before a significant profit-taking kicks in. Please refer to the following figure for their rallies in recent months: quote.yahoo.com (2) The Q4 has ended on September 26th, therefore, Apple officials and BOD will know the rough results this weekends. They wouldn't expect to say anything regarding Q4's results, but, IDC, PC data or other news media will continue digging into September's PC sales outlook and could release associated data in the first week of October in which I believe iMac will show strong sales in part due to the overseas high demand. The timing of releasing good news in the near future enables AAPL to advance another 2-3 points. (3) Analysts continue to join the bet on AAPL's Q4 results, which could boost another spike on AAPL's price if they raise AAPL's Q4 net by upgrading the stock. (4) The trailing PE will change from 385 to around 20 as soon as Q4 results kick in. This is a big gap for Money Managers in their reviewing criteria on AAPL's prospects. It seems Apple has accomplished a significant task with four straight "in black" records with an amazing net/revenue improvement. I wouldn't be surprised AAPL will climb back to $40+ next week and challenge yearly high again. Phil
