I took a look at @Guard on WRQ's homepage( atguard.com ). As you said, it evidently tries to block incoming advertising to speed up page loading. It also blocks cookies (which you can do with your browser anyway).
I doubt this will have a big effect on AOL. You and I might use something like it but a lot of the people who use AOL are not techies types and just take what they get from AOL. Also, for a while AOL was telling subscribers who bitched about ads how to turn them off! Whether you can do that with their Version 4 software, I don't know.
