Does anyone have an idea of the revenue/profitiablity of the Palm Pilot contribution to the bottom line. I keep reading rave revues of the device and it sounds like we have blown away the competition. I have not personally used the Palm Pilot but I understand it has taken the industry by storm and keeps getting better.

Good luck to all.

Dan

John, thanks for the calculation. I think your assumptions and maths are very reasonable. The main thing for the next couple qtrs is to grow revenue and control costs.

The concensus is now 30-32 so it should not be too hard for coms to beat estimate again since the next three months should be their stronger months. They had a very back-end loaded qtr in the last qtr. With their CB9000, cable modems roll-out with TCI, slew of news SOHO products, and voip system design wins, the momentum should continue and this should be an interesting qtr for coms.

The following from management comments :

"Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) increased to 63 days from 56 days in Q4. The dominant factor impacting the growth in DSO was shipment linearity, which crept up slightly from the spring quarter. This quarter, 49% of shipments occurred in the last 5 weeks of the quarter (i.e., the ending month), compared to 45% during the final 5 weeks of the spring quarter."

The following is also intersting :

"Share repurchase activity in Q1: During Q199 we repurchased 1.1 million shares, or slightly more than 10% of the 10 million shares authorized for repurchase by 3Com's Board of Directors. The average price for the repurchased shares was $26.57 per share. "
