AMD owns half the sub 1k market. analysts like the brilliant niles <G>, will tell you thats ok, since INTC still owns the higher priced market.

this is wrong. the ASP of PCs is being gradually and inexorably dragged down. as this happens, the functionality of the low end is rising. so, now for example, you can wait for a few months and be certain to get todays top end machine for less that 1k.

another point in AMDs favor, and the one that relates to INTCs branding efforts, is that the longer AMD sticks around, the harder it is going to be get rid of it since it establishes its own position.

i think we have seen the end of the dominate chip maker.
