I have seen some of this play out in small companies my spouse has worked for (much smaller companies than Ascend) and I think a lot of the board members may tell buddies, because the sales or buys in these cases are not insignificant. Once anyone tells someone the cat is out of the bag, and the broadcasting can get quite large. Some people even post inside info on the net- the problem is you can't tell who really has info and who doesn't. So volume and direction (and especially suspicious options activity) should clue you in- especially relevant on smaller stocks. But we have all seen it happen even with stocks as large as INTC.

Daniel,

Stocks move on information that is not available to the public, a simple but true statement!

However, in the case of ASND, the public knows almost as much as Mory. Due to the consolidation of the industry, Ascends board and officers must consider bids for the company's stock. I don't think the deal is done. It's a crap shoot for the small investor and the big boys. At this point, the stock's movement is 100% due to rumor, speculation, fear, and greed.

I sold ASND because I feared losing my profit, now I want to buy because I don't won't to miss out on a huge rally, as soon as I buy and make a few points I'll sell due to fear of losing my profit. It's a damn crap shoot!!

It's a great company, take a chance and buy it.
