Bernie:

>>Fred: I have read your posts these many months, and I still don't get your new "utopia" that's possible by the power of N. ~2/3rds of the world is starving and in poverty. Daily, one reads of man's inhumanity to man because of religious belief or some other pretext. In short, misery abounds around the globe for all except a privileged few.

I'm a simple man and would appreciate in simple (non-flowery) words an answer to a few simple questions.>>

Thanks for asking Bernie. I'll try to to my best.

>>Put a N handset in the hands of someone starving, or about to be slaughtered by the "majority", or on drugs. Just exactly how will this change his life? Who will he call to make a difference? Would he know who to call? Would that someone he calls have the resources/knowhow to be able to do anything for one individual? millions? hundreds of millions? billions?>>

We are doing this exact thing right here in Chicago. Averaging 10-15 new phones each week, we are developing an integrated program involving mentors - trust agents we call them - and other individuals who are - with NO structure or control - using these phones in ways that are helping people at:

- a battered womans shelter
- a private non-profit school in one of the worst gang/drug infested areas.
- across 40 blocks radiating from this working with residents, police, businesses, etc. to reconnect to good sources of information which can help ease/end gang and crime.
- with a drug rehab/resource center on the west side where we have social worker online interacting with executives and traders who want to help.
- soon 17-25 phones in one of the largest hispanic areas who are seeing our vision.
- with a real estate group that rehabs buildings in poor areas and treats their tenants like human beings - 7-8 phones on our network
- with a govt funded group working with convicts who get out from the pen - 93% go back in after 1-1/2 years.
- with some members of a group my company sponsors made up of the 6-7% who beat the odds and STAY out.....
- with private one-on-one social workers who stumble into what we are doing and want to be part of this.
- with 25+ phones for one area that the state promised to pay for which are now owned by ME since I want to make a difference.

>>Of course, there would be no costs for distributing these billions of handsets throughout the world to all the individuals who would want their lives changed.>>

The people on our network are paying their own costs because they believe in the vision and are wearing it by taking responsibility and ownership. BTW, we are not out to make money on the phones per see for those who want to help - ie. Trust Agents - but we do have other programs involving telecom, internet, computers and other technologies which we feel should be in the hands of more kids and families who have had zero exposure to technology.

>>There are no simplistic solutions to what ails the world. As individuals, we can help a very very few of those in need of a helping hand.>>

I don't believe in a "limited world". There is no scarcity. Only scarcity mindsets..... Individuals here your story time and time and time again. Forget about everything else, its over, take care of your family, that's it, period. Go home, shut the door, keep to your knitting.

Bernie, I just happen to be one of those few who think every person walking down the street is a national treasure, full of stories, insights, feelings, etc. Every closed door is, to me, one to be opened. Every negative is a potential positive.

If I can climb to the top of a lighthouse and help ONE more individual I'd do it. Nextel's technology, Craig's overall vision, the internet and a mindblowing new round of value added IP-based products and services are going to be rolling at us for a fraction of the cost of "old model" goods and services. This is a wonderful time to put the flipper down and get out of the family room and get to know your neighbors.
Perhaps they can help, too.

>>What am I missing in your dialogue of "empowerment" made possible with N technology for the world's "teeming masses"?>>

I think your thinking is still stuck in your "box". There is ego in ALL our thinking and I know you probably have a lot investing in your world views, etc.

For some reason you have labeled my dialogue a con. Why don't you take up my offer to come to Chicago and see this for yourself. My new company has been building this model since I incorporated in March of this year.

Oh, BTW, we are using the SAME principals only different technology to build an open IP-based messaging system for the securities industry.

It's all about the power of ONE....people taking power and ownership back into their personal lives. We think financial industry professions want to have the power and control to communicate more directly and freely regarding the placement of their trades, research, email, data, etc. We think the doors are about to be blown off of many closed proprietary networks in our industry - all of which are holding back innovation and volumes.

If you are a trader, you'd be interested in this.

I can show you around the various exchanges, meet some of our employees/agents and executive mentors who are supporting the fullfillment of this vision - with no money, just their time.

I can be reached at (877) 99-SMART.

BTW - we have 20+ CUB tickets for this evenings game. Anyone in the midwest/Chicago area want in? Call Scottie at the above number.

PS: No pun, but Nextel would be great for Jesse Jackson. He could stop living off labeling his people as victims, turn over a new leaf, get on some of these "new age" programs that accelerate empowerment models and retire.

I can see it now, press that Nextel Direct Connect button .....The new Operation PUSH.....

Get Smart Jesse! Get Nextel!

And, if anyone from Operation Push reads this, please, I mean no offense.... I think there is a tremendous opportunity to pull people together at this "higher level" if only we could get rid of this "us/them" thinking that's so ingrained out there.....
