Dave, the USA protects their intellectual property without the company needing to go to a court in the country concerned. They use political power, which means economic and military power. New Zealand is being leaned on right now over parallel importing of fully paid, registered and legal products from the USA.

The usual route would be to seek relief by a court in the country concerned, but if that is not forthcoming, the USA will use force.

So if L M Ericsson steals Qualcomm's property in Europe, Qualcomm will seek relief in Europe, then seek support from the USA government.
