Dave, we've been all through this a lot of times. We know Qualcomm is not in the 'some' category because many companies, including L M Ericsson have agreed to pay royalties. They have been signing up and paying heaps for nearly a decade, starting in 1989 about. These were not trivial royalties. Koreans and others were whining that the royalties were so onerous that cdmaOne was being held up by the excessive costs. Since the growth rate of cdmaOne is enormous, you can see that the cause of their whining was not too damaging to cdmaOne. We also have had Gregg Powers inform us that their independent investigations have confirmed the robust nature of vital cdma in mobile patents. We can also presume that while nearly everyone else was saying that cdma was a dog, couldn't and wouldn't work etc, Qualcomm was busy building a powerful patent portfolio. You can see all the patents, dates and what they do for confirmation of that. We also see SETI begging for this alien intelligence from Qualcomm so their gangster members can use Qualcomm's knowhow too. We also see L M Ericsson negotiating hopefully for a couple of years to get in on the act having adopted a very unsavoury approach to competition for years. There is a good case to treat them with contempt and leave them out of the cdma mobile world since they don't know how to ask politely for use of somebody's property. Mqurice
