Sorry to take so long to respond. I don't spend that much time on this thread. Apart from the already obvious fact that an investment in ERICY has been far superior to QCOM (interestingly so has an investment in such mundane companies as IP, GM and Alcoa for that matter) over the last five years, my other point is that the money made in ERICY has made my QCOM investment inconsequential. That is, if my ERICY investment now compounds at 8% for the next five years, my QCOM investment has to compound at 128% to catch up. Whatever your assumptions are about the great promise of QCOM's future (debatable by history's measure - it always appears the great QCOM coming is manana, manana. Kind of reminds me of America threatening to "Unleash Chiang Kai-Shek" on the PRC!) I doubt they include 128 percent compounded growth. I'm glad I own them both, and particularly glad I owned Nokia as well. But with greater commoditization and competition coming in handsets, I'm afraid QCOM missed its moment in the sun. I guess somebody has to be the Betamax or Apple of the cellular business. For all the passion and energy you and your friends put into this site, I hope I'm wrong.

As an aside, I have been an active user of a QCOM, MOT, ERICY and NOKIA handsets over the last few years on both digital and analog systems (PCS,GTE,ATT,AERIAL). Interestingly enough, the Aerial/ERICY setup stands head and shoulders above the rest. We just threw away our QCOM phone after it crapped out. There's a long term user's opinion.
