I would hate to have to defend Newt or Clinton. The difference is that you guys, I assume you are an Repub, seem unable to mention one
negative point about Newt----and calmly and blindly follow the
party line---without using you own reasoning ability--something wrong there

You can be an independent and still have a strong opinion either on Clinton or on other topics supported by one of the major parties. For example, Libertarians would most likely come out on the same side as Republicans on most issues, where Peace and Freedom or Green party members would most likely agree with much of the Democrat platform. That being the case, they would have similar feelings toward Clinton, since they either support or oppose his policies.
