What had happened is that in your unusually determined drive to make a Perfect Cougar, you used up ALL the locally available parts (esp. power window drive motors and guide wheels). This naturally put other, less fortunate or monied Cougar owners in the position where they HAD to steal one with known good parts. They are the real victims here. Bourgeois oppressor.

I HATE CARS. They are necessary evils. We own four at the moment, but not by choice.
Although I remember with affection the aqua '66 Ford Galaxy that my mother gave us in law school; the thing ran on prayer. And the thrill of our first new car in third year law- a little green Honda hatchback-I think it cost about 4K. That car was great until CW and Ammo poured the cement in the the engine and it rained. We left the keys in it night after night parked in front of our house in Dallas and no one would take it and this was not a shy neighborhood. They stole all the wicker furniture off our porch a couple of times and shot out the study window. They were bad, but apparently not stupid.

Finally we sold it to the builder of our house for 250.00. The next time I saw him he said someone had run into him on the way home and he got a couple of thousand out of the insurance co. for it. That's the story of our autolife.

We sold our beautiful Alfa Romeo for 1700 because the guy said it was leaking oil and he painted it and resold it for 4000 the next week. I know this because he didn't even officially sign the title -just passed ours over to the new owner who called us.

I refuse to ever buy a used car again since CW's Beretta, which is sitting in our driveway until someone stupider than we comes along. Of course, if they know cars, they'll probably take it home, replace a fuse and the thing will be perfect. Hell, we've replaced everything else-600 in brakes, 500 dollar new window, new plugs and condenser and coils and freon. What's left? It just doesn't run for us. TWo places have "fixed" it and within a day or two it dies again. only they say-well, it must be something else--and then we pay another few hundred. Gave up and bought him a new Nissan 200SX-bright red. He's happy. I'm happy for the duration of the warranty. Anyone want a nice Beretta?
