> why would anyone in their right minds NOT want to buy Dell??

When the going gets tough, people like to hide in defensive stocks, not high risk / high growth stocks.

First, let me congratulate you and anyone else that has bought and held DELL and made great returns.

I think you answered your own question on not buying DELL. Who do you think buys DELL's product ? Don't you think the economic slowdown will effect their spending on DELL products ? I think if you look back to late '95 you will see that DELL was just as effected as any PC company in the last major slowdown. The big difference between now and then is that it is sporting a PE ratio inconsistent with its historical PE. I agree that things have changed and DELL has won a lot of market share, has a great BTO strategy, and excellent management. The problem is the economy and IMO, PCs are just as cyclical as they have ever been.

Unless you want to be out of the stock market for now (And Fidelity insists that strategy does not work over time) I cant see buying anything but DELL.
I bought Gillette for day trading. Got stuck and not willing to take a loss on a major co so waiting for a pop up to 40 so I can get out with a couple of hundred dollar gain. Small potatoes compared to what I make on LEAPS of DELL no less DELL itself. Silly Silly Silly.

Still I do seem to like action. Have to curb myself some time.
