Thanks so much for your insightful and prompt advice. I see that you are mixed up with two of my old favorites. I traded CIEN intensely from February on, buying on the dip and shorting when it rebounded. It seems unbelievable in retrospect, but I did not lose money even once. I got out after TLAB announced it would acquire CIEN, thinking that the volatility was gone. Boy, was I ever wrong!! My involvement with NOVL was a one-shot deal, bought at $9 1/2 in May and sold at $13 1/2 in July (don't hold me to the months, blush, blush). So, fond memories and wish you good luck on both stocks. I will be sure to run new ideas past you.

Wayne, Bought into PAIR again. Any comments on TA (of PAIR) at this time would be welcome. Looks pretty good to me but earnings due after close tomorrow could shake things.

Karl

Wayne, when I re-read this post, I can't help laughing at myself. I waited so long for CMGI to move up that I ended up writing October $45 CMGI calls for $2. Luckily, it closed Friday at $44 1/8; but considering that CMGI went up as high as $47 1/2 last Thursday, I feel like I earned the option price. Now I want to get your advice on what to do next. Is CMGI's consolidation pennant still intact? Would you wait and write or move on?

I ended up not doing anything with Network Solution (NSOL). (Did you notice it went up $7 today?) I did a quick trade on Mindspring (MSPG): bought at $25 1/16 at the close last Wednesday (looking for a bounce off $25 support) and sold at $29 Friday morning. A little cowardly, I know, but I need to regain my confidence.

Today, I made the same move again, buying Excite (XCIT) at $31 1/8, looking for a bounce off $30 support level. Which exit price would you set?

Actually, I am very tempted to short MSPG if it runs up to $33-35. I think its earnings report is due sometime this week.

Not that I am likely to do anything with MSFT, but it just seems like a low risk proposition to buy some calls ahead of its earnings announcement tomorrow.

As always, I appreciate your prompt and helpful insight.
