The way I figure it, if it's starting to rain, and I know it will stop and be sunny some time after that, I'm still going to wear a rain jacket if I go outside so I don't get wet, catch a cold, and miss work for a few days.

Great analogy, Drew. I agree with you 100%. I guess my time horizon is just a little bit wider than yours. Recessions and court cases are relatively transient phenomena (the latter certainly moreso than the former), but I gotta believe that telephones, computers, and information networks are going to outlast these little speed bumps.

I see Oracle getting into a deeper hole by releasing documents to the courts visavee the MS case.

Huh? What hole? And you really think a bunch of internal memos from Larry Ellison saying "Let's kick Bill's ass" are going to be bad for Oracle's business? Steve Jobs and Larry Ellison are two guys whose bad side I would never want to be on. Sure, Bill uses his financial muscle and installed base to push people around, but Steve and Larry are the kind who'll show up on your front lawn with a baseball bat and a blow torch if things don't go their way.

And in answer to an earlier post, no, I don't know what Lucent's exposure is in Russia or S.A. If they had that much exposure they'd be showing the hurt by now, don't ya think? And even though some of the countries and states in those regions are in financial trouble, they still have to buy equipment. Why not buy it from Lucent? I swear I've seen a couple contracts signed with S.A. firms over the past couple months.

Visualize whirlled peas, Drew. ;)
