spreads not a joke. Individual MM spreads are generally large. It's the highest of the bids and the lowest of all the asks that make the spread that you see. That's what is important. My Level II display shows the data in a more meaninful format. It shows all the MM's on the bid in descending order and all the MM's on the ask in ascending order. So the MM's at the top of the two lists make the inside spread.

For example

Bid: Ask:

NITE .71 WIEN .74
HRZG .67 SPIN .74
FAHN .65 HILL .75
WIEN .64 SHRP .75
