Do you have any examples where the republicans showed real courage in totally dumping medicare/SS? Because Reagan was the one who raised the SS taxes so high last time did he not?

There was a bipartisan committee which made recommendations on saving Social Security in 1981-1983. These were majority-led by Democrats. They made the proposals.

There is an out in the Social Security law. Municipalities can opt out. Oregon is the first state to draft a resolution to opt out of Social Security.
