tippet, ---------------- off topic ----------------- so you've got a better idea than c++ programming for career change? (btw, fortran is also what i use.) i noticed that you have been one of the true bears on the market. unfortunately bad economy isn't really so cool except for playing puts/shorts (for now anyway). i have hard time foreseeing how the job market turns out say, a year from now, if the economy keeps deteriorating. will the c++ programmers lose jobs too? i have heard a lot about hardware companies' cutting back, but i also see a lot of job adds looking for programmers. was this under your consideration when you were thinking about career change? victor
