OK fine Dwight but heres my point. If you go back through this issue you will see I agree, its going to be hard to ask everyone to eliminate peanuts from schools. But, if you are an administrator and youve got a couple of kids in your district that have this problem you have got to do something. Maybe the best thing is private tutoring, fine. But if, for whatever reason, the administration decides they are going to have a "peanut-free" classroom, and this method is conveyed to the students/parents - then it is a very serious matter indeed to send you kid to that class with a pb&j sandwich. This is not the kind of thing we should allow pompous parents to make an issue of, and as a minimum I think those parents should be fined (although j_b has pointed out that schools cant do this but just in theory). When I see these articles and the reaction of people here to this issue "OUTRAGE - MY KID LOVES PB&J SANDWICHES - YOU MEAN HE WILL BE JAILED IF HE EATS ONE????" then that is just another example of ignorance on this topic. If you are not grown up enough to treat this matter seriously, and take your frustrations out elsewhere (vs. sending your kid to school with peanuts where another kid could die) then you are not grown up enough to have kids.

BTW most problems with this issue have been vindictive parents as I understand so its different than a beesting. I knew someone at work who ate a piece of candy that was next to a piece of marzipan in a box of candies and she almost died so its a real problem for these people.
