JOBS aplenty-Messing with Deb-Chatting with Deb Ceberbone,Dell Corp, [Director Professional staffing] (Thanks to Mohan Marette) Kemble: Talk about a feverish bunch of high tech job seekers messing with Deb Ceberbone Director of Professional staffing Dell corp. Highlights. Dell hired over new 5400 employees from Austin area alone this year. Dell has over 60 positions open in customer service area. Dell contributes upto 3% to the 401K plan, last year the profit was so extra ordinary employees got an extra 2%. Well you get the idea..... =============================================== Tue, Sep 29, 02:19:24 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Group, just to give a flavor on our hiring this year, we have to date hired over 5,400 people in Austin alone. I assure you that many of these are over age fifty. Tue, Sep 29, 02:11:40 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: CJO, currently we have at minimum 60 open positions across Dell in the financial arena. At best guess we hire about 50% of our employees from within the Austin Area and 50% outside of Texas. Relocation packages are based on position level. Please seek more detailed information from our website on these openings. Tue, Sep 29, 02:14:20 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Group, we receive an average of 5,000 unsolicited resumes per week giving us the ability to select from a very large pipeline. The best skillset match tends to be the individual we seek. Tue, Sep 29, 02:22:01 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Wow, didn't expect this many participants! Let me see if I can catch up. Next time I think I'll include some of my team and we can respond quicker. Okay, Facilities positions are abundant. Tue, Sep 29, 02:31:09 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Around the 401K issue, Dell contributes up to 3%. Last year because profits were so extraordinary, we received an additional 2% as Christmas gift. Benefits are terrific. Tue, Sep 29, 02:34:46 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Dell just launched for the first time a financially oriented employee referral program. It's called Friends for Hire and I would encourage anyone who knows a person a Dell to ask for them to submit your resume as another avenue. If hired, they receive $250 net. In some areas where critical skills or hard to fill positions abound, i.e, account executives and engineering a special premium is paid up to $1,000. Tue, Sep 29, 02:42:12 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Folks I know this is frustrating. I've been with Dell for over two years and believe it's the best company I've worked for. The culture is fast paced and everyone has the ability to make a difference. Isn't that why people are knocking down our door to work here. I wish we could hire everyone but obviously that's not possible. Tue, Sep 29, 02:50:23 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: To the person who asked about what technical skills were needed coming from Customer Service. I would recommend since we have over 60 customer service openings that you apply there and allow Dell to provide the technical training needed to move into the technical support area. Tue, Sep 29, 03:02:16 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: Former employees who have departed in "good standing" are always welcome back. Check the web or contact one of your former friends. Tue, Sep 29, 03:07:51 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: We had intended to hold an all Dell job fair back at the Erwin Center this month but because of the enormous reponse of 6,500 people at the August fair when we had only expected 3,000 we've got an overload in Resumix. At this point we'll attend the local and regional job fairs, i.e. Southwest High Tech and wait until January to have another Dell event. Tue, Sep 29, 03:09:47 PM CDT Deb Cerbone: For those that are left, I would be more than happy to do this again and have several of our 80 Recruiters assist me. Tom, is it possible to have you consolidate the questions received today to be better prepared for the next time? austin360.com Source:Austin American Statesman
