Ben

It is very difficult to apply Max-Pain during a earnings month in my opinion. Even assuming INTC might close around 80$ on options expiry day, I can't imagine INTC not having a pre-earnings run-up between now and mid-october when it reports earnings, especially since (1)they have already said they will beat the street, (2) fund maangers are running out of quality stocks without earnings hiccups.

Look at INTC's behaviour last qtr (july). I bought some Oct 90 calls today, wish I had bout Nov 90's as well.

INTC's Oct'98 Max-Pain Point&#153 is $80, INTC closed at $83 7/8.

With two weeks to go till Oct'98 open interest expiration, I updated the Max-Pain&#153 option analysis graphs based on Friday's CBOE (10/02/98) open interest strike prices and volume.

The Max-Pain Point&#153 graph and definition are located at one of my favorite links.
