Here's bad news for the pure IP model and this should be
good news for an LSI that has a huge (working!) library and the design skills and the process technology:

eet.com

Hope for intellectual-property (IP) companies might be short-lived, based on the views of a panel of analysts who convened here this week. Commodity IP isn't a sustainable business model, and only a rarefied few IP companies will be blessed with large-scale success in the future, speakers said....

In addition, some systems houses are becoming disillusioned with cores.
"Most of the IP out there is not core-ready," Smith said, noting that he's seen an unprecedented number of designs halted during the past 18 months, due largely to failed system-on-a-chip projects. "People are dying off at the verification phase. Even with the best of the core suppliers, there's been horror stories."

Analog technology might also be a key to IP success [LSI is here big time]
