Dave - it's true - earnings will always take precedence over TA.... one reason I always follow earnings dates and will rarely hold over an earnings report . Even if it looks really promising - I sell before the announcement ... I just don't want to deal with the gyrations ... but then it's been such a long, long time since we've been in a buy & hold mkt anyway.
I do like just using your best charting reading skills to try and figure out the OEX - but again - I will still treat the OEX just like I would individual stocks when it comes to earnings - I have got earnings dates on all the majors !!! I've been a data collecting fool lately... <ggg>
