Richard, I would like to add a small peice to your last post. Also, I see a ray of possible hope in Ed's recent post that may cause the shorts to worry. I'll put this in a post to Bob Walsh next. You said, when someone comes and announces "Hi I'm from the corporate office, I'm here to help you", morale never goes up. <VBG> To me, true on the inside of the workers, but they know that they have to appear upbeat and positive and smile to the person who gave them that upbeat talk, else they will be taged as not in step with the recovery process. A joke played on all, every work day. The workers feel trashed and belittled, and when the bosses leave, in low voices they dump crap talk towards upper management, at the same time worry about being fired or layed off. Some workers even go the extra step and praise and give extra smiles to the bosses. Makes them feel craply and degraded, but hey, they have a wife and children to support, and one will do whatever its takes to protect loved ones. Can't give any straight talk to bosses, even if it will help the company, since may get fired. Now the bosses can report to the big boss, the one that can fire or pull strings to get lower bosses in trouble, the message that the workers have high great positive feelings. Happens every day. Alice and Wonderland. What you want, is. Even when you know it really isn't. One reasons for this happening is simply that the people in charge do not understand except in broad terms what went wrong, and they think that they can instruct the workers to not do as done, but now do differently. Sometimes that new different is a medicine worst than the sickness. But mostly the bosses do not understand that there are other factors happening here. Someone said they worked by shooting from the hip. So solution is to NOT "it". Yes ? No But time will tell, and many upbeat posters here say wait and see. But time will tell, with or with not, a wait and see. So a wait and see means no negative posts, only those with a smile because top management has declared the problem under control and thus future success. But I not employeed by MGR and safe for me to engage in a two way conversation with MGR(thread). MGR workers have the right and desire, but fear of job lost crushes its possibility. Did any workers in the past informally or formally make suggestion to management for improvments in the procedure or process ? THE SUGGESTION BOX, with a hole in the bottom, as it is set on a daily to be emptied waste can. Varieation of this are many. Lets see the reply to this post. Probably only one, being "get lost". Two way dialog reply ? Probably not, only the one way "trouble maker". Doug
