Lisa is probably the most qualified to help you with profile ad-ons, but for starters...

To include an image, on any line in your profile (like Age), you can enter html in the format

<img src=[image URL]>

where [image URL] is a link to your desired graphic. So to link in a "new" tag beside your location, you could type the following line.
Seattle, WA <img src=http://www.techstocks.com/gifs/new.gif>

Click on my profile to see the result.

You can link in a graphic from any site...while you are surfing you can right-click on any image and view it's properties (and get it's URL Address).

Brad

Note: Of course, if you link in graphics from other sites, you should observe any copyright notices...

Dan
Brad is right
I have a certain rep among certain people for my profile
Message 5894593

and someone even started a thread because of it....which I thought was funny

but my profile is for the completely politically incorrect and those that daytrade that like a laugh during the day....

if you want to know about HTML
here is a source:

wdvl.internet.com

I have never looked at it but someone sent it my way.

I have my own website (in fact I have several) and I am completely computer illiterate...so if I can do it ...you can do it

if you want an easier way since you arent trying to do a web page...just let my profile load all the way
click on your right mouse button (at least for me) and "view source"
you will see the html codes that I use

sometimes I have extra code in there that I leave up for the next time..but is not functioning at the moment...I dont think I have any up right now

if you want to skip the graphics loading...all you have to do is hit your escape button

For a little history, the graphics in profiles started a couple of years ago on the original USRX thread as a "Tacky Profile" contest. It get started between me, Pullin-GS (in his former life), Scrapps, Jeff Forrest, and quickly spread to others. (It was an extremely active thread back then. So active in fact that it provoked Brad into programming the first Clubhouse - a kind act that probably kept the whole lot of us from being banished for life.) I took the "high road" with some custom gif89s and lost. Jeff won the tacky award for a profile that even a colorblind person would find garish. Pullin, our resident Certified Cisco Engineer, won for the funniest graphic: pipeline.com

Back in those days the charts each had a comment thread that appeared below the chart. Those postings were limited to one or two line comments, but allowed anonymous posting by members and non-members alike. Well, Pandora's box having already been opened, it didn't take long for everyone to figure out how to imbed images on the chart threads, and boys being boys...... Brad soon had to filter out the html code, then the anonymity, and then finally the chart comment threads altogether. But, I digress........

If you don't mind sifting through messages, a lot of "how to" messages can be found in the early part of this thread: #Subject-12305

FWIW, I eventually removed all of my graphics from my profile after being repeatedly annoyed waiting 5 minutes on a T-1 for profiles like Lisa's and Moonray's to load. :-)

Nonetheless, with some modest graphics from fast servers and a few color and font changes, you can make an attractive profile without creating an albatross.

Here are some basic font commands (omit the space after the "<"):
<font color=navy>This would be navy blue.</font>
< i><font color=navy>This is the same thing in italics.</font>< /i>
< i>< b><font color=navy>Once again, in bold italics.</font>< /b>< /i>
<font size=6>This would be a larger typeface.</font>
< b><center><font color=green size=8>This would be a big, bold, green centered sentence.</font></center>

Hummm... less than 100k 'til #reply-6000000. Better start getting limbered up. :-)
