I've never understood why individual investors always dwell on irrelevant issues when it come to common stocks.

Global meltdown? What of it? Why do you worry about it? If the entire world goes into depression and there is panic in the streets it isn't going to matter where you put your money...or if you're long or short.

By the way, when everyone and his brother is talking about global depressions, bank failures, buying gold and heading for the hills...that's exactly the time I'm loading up on stock.

xcr600, I understand from the financial press that WCOM bought a real dog in mci with its old technology and mostly plain vanilla voice customers.

Anybody correct me if I have this wrong.
