Rosario, the problems you site really do not exist at all anymore.

As a concrete manufacturer and supplier of materials to the ready mix industry, what you refer to is a a problem that no longer exists.

Heated concrete with air entrainment is used daily throughout Wisconsin all winter long for outdoor pours. There are many add mixtures used today to regulate setting and curing times.

The necessity for heated concrete does increase the cost per yard of concrete during the winter months, bit is not that significant to the total cost of a project. Hope this helps clear up some questions, as related to construction times for ARET.

In Milwaukee, good sources for verification would be Tews or Central Ready Mix, the two largest manufacturers of concrete.

STRTYZ, Have you ever heard what they call the FREEZE LINE??My buddy owns a construction company in Milwaukee for the last 25 years. His company builds houses, apartment complexes, shopping centers and office buildings. His construction company would grind to a halt if he did have projects where the footings have already been laid and cured. His winter work consists of finishing out the shells and then back to pouring concrete in the spring after the freeze line thaws.
Construction in the winter using antifreeze in the concrete is very risky, can come back and haunt you, numerous delays, extremely hazardous to the construction workers, and very, very expensive. Snow Storms, Blizzards, Brutal Wind Chill
Factors also takes its toll. Best Regards

In the winter, if I pour footings, I tent and use space heaters. Here, the frost line is 42 inches, we go 48 inches

There are two types of anitfreeze, one is Propylene and is non toxic and not expensive, the other is ethylene glycol, the color is green and is toxic...it is the same as used in automobiles and would not be used for construction...Isn't milwaukee in wisconsin??? and Choctaw in south Oklahoma?? Big difference in freeze conditions in any event there is incomeing revenues without construction!
