merely update existing files, but, rather, overwrites them, so you
have to completely re-export everything each day which is silly. "


But by rebuilding the files from scratch everyday you know that any corrections or splits are applied. It may take longer, but since it also cleans up the data isn't it worth the time?

TC2000 export gives me a fresh file every day too.
